International School of Modena is a private IB World School educating students aged 3 to 18. The campus offers the full International Baccalaureate continuum: Primary Years Programme in Kindergarten and Primary School, Middle Years Programme in Middle School, and the Diploma Programme in High School. English is the language of instruction, with Italian language support to aid bilingualism; IS Modena is the first IB Continuum school in Emilia-Romagna to deliver the entire IB curriculum in an English-based setting. The campus includes libraries, science laboratories, arts spaces, drama and music studios, and a Diploma Centre, plus a gym, football pitch and rooftop basketball court. Classrooms feature interactive projectors, digital whiteboards and personal devices; a Library and Collaborative Study Area supports group and independent learning. Register Your Interest With us in a Few Simple Steps. Our goal is to guide your family through the admissions process so that you can join our school community as simply and conveniently as possible. Below is an outline of what to expect and the documents you will need to complete your application.
1. Submit an Enquiry. Please submit an enquiry using the form below. Once received, a member of the Admissions Team will contact you to discuss the application process. The team will guide you through the next steps to help you plan.
2. Book a Tour. Parents and students are strongly encouraged to visit the school prior to enrolment. If this is not possible due to geographical considerations, an online interview between the Principal/Coordinators and parents will be arranged. We also encourage all incoming students from Grade 1 upwards to spend half a day in their future class.
3. Application. Once you have received your personal login details, please follow the instructions on Open Apply and submit the following documentation for each applicant: a copy of the child's birth certificate or passport; school records for the last two years (Grade 3 and above); referee contact details (a teacher); the results of any special academic or psychological evaluations; any other relevant educational documentation; vaccination/immunisation record. Italian law requires all school-age children to provide an up-to-date vaccination record before entering school.
4. Interview & Assessment. Applicants and their families will be invited to meet with teachers, and may be asked to sit an interview with the Coordinator or Principal. Children may be required to sit an entrance examination and/or English language proficiency assessment.
5. Enrolment. When all prior requirements are fulfilled, the school will send parents/guardians a letter/email of acceptance with the applicant's start date. Payment arrangements for tuition fees will be made when the contract is signed.
High School Scholarships. The International School of Modena seeks to award financial support to a selected number of students who wish to access international education at the High School level. Selection Criteria include: a current High School student not enrolled at IS Modena (age 14+ and applying for Grades 10–13); proven history of academic excellence; competence in English; strong motivation to succeed; active involvement in school life (extracurricular activities, leadership, service); and excellent attendance and behaviour. Application Requirements include: a letter outlining how the applicant meets the criteria; a written statement answering what motivates the applicant and why they should be awarded a scholarship; reports from the most recent school; a satisfactory reference from the current school. Scholarship payments continue until completion of High School and as long as the selection criteria are met (maintain high academic results, engagement, and attendance, and active involvement in the wider school community). There are no geographical restrictions; applications from students whose parents are entitled to company discounts or have relocation packages will not be accepted.
